Tips to choose art for your wall
Finding it difficult to choose the right print for your home or office? We at +597 Photography thought we would share some tips to help out.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself:
- Preference
What kind of art catches your eye? Do you like landscapes because it calms you or do you prefer looking at people and try to find that persons story? Would you like to be inspired or touched by looking at a picture?
Knowing the answers to these question will help you narrow your search for your wall art. - Space, the look and feel of the room
What does your space look and feel like? Are you buying art for your home or your office? Think about where you will display your wall art and how they will hang with what is already there in the space. - Where will you be hanging your wall art?
If you’re hanging a print on the wall over a piece of furniture, such as a sofa or an office desk, look for artworks that are between 60 and 90 % of the furniture’s total width. Anything smaller will leave too much blank space and anything larger will make your furniture look small. - Do you know who the artist is?
Are you someone who is looking to invest in up and coming artists or are you the person who likes to impress with an established name? If you see a piece you like, do some research on the artist and gain a deeper and more personal understanding of the artwork you are buying.
