Rafael Jantz
Photographer Rafael Jantz (1986) was born in Florida, U.S., but grew up in Suriname. His first years were spent living in the jungle of the Guiana Shield. Paramaribo has been his hometown for a while now and he still enjoys living here, as it is one of the most diverse environments in the world.
He found his passion for visual storytelling in 2009 while working at a production company that mainly specializes in documentaries. Ever since he has been drawn to capturing his experiences and the places he has been to through camera and lens. Rafael is a visual storyteller and committed to delivering engaging photography with a deeper meaning.
Combining his intimate knowledge of the rainforest and its inhabitants he tries to bridge the gap between the Western world and the Amazon by showing the many incredible scenes that one can only see by spending time in this dangerous, wild, and incredibly beautiful landscape. With his respectful approach towards the people he portrays, he wins their trust and is able to capture their stories and emotions through imagery.
